Wildgoose Events, a leading B2B events and event technology company, wanted to explore new ways to expand their product offerings and drive future growth. They identified an opportunity to create a self-serve, subscription-based version of their existing game builder solution, aimed at HR and employee engagement managers who need accessible, customisable team-building activities.
Based on the conclusions of a successful discovery exercise, the leadership team decided to move forward with testing the concept in market and commissioned the development of an MVP.
While the concept had been validated with customers in the earlier discovery phase, many of the complexities around developing a self-serve application that would interface with the existing back-office systems was yet to be explored.
Wildgoose engaged Subvert Studio to provide product design and product leadership services, to ensure the new MVP would offer a streamlined user experience while being ready for market testing within a tight development timeline.
We knew we needed to design an approach that would allow customers to easily create their own custom games and excite them about the possibilities, without exposing them to unnecessary back-office complexity.
The project was kicked off with a detailed exploration and planning phase to understand the technical constraints and business requirements, so these could be effectively balanced with the user needs identified in the previous customer research.
We also needed to ensure the MVP was laser-focused on validating the right assumptions that would support decision making about further investment. Armed with both sets of analysis, we produced a set of intuitive interface designs, user flows, and clickable prototypes for user testing and technical alignment.
We worked collaboratively with the Wildgoose engineering team to refine and prioritise during each sprint, ensuring that the MVP remained on track with the overall strategic goals, product vision and customer needs.
We also supported the launch with art direction, branding and go to market strategy, including production of a supporting marketing website.
The MVP launched successfully, on time, and to early positive feedback.
